When I try to install it, it keeps saying I have to close bridge.exe.

Jun 3, 2012 I upgraded from CS4 to CS6 and have not been able to see my plug-ins in CS6.
I tried reinstalling them and dropping them in the CS6 file and still can't see them. Dec 4, 2008 I use Photoshop CS3. All plug-ins used to work before. Now with some of the plug-ins (liquify+vanishing point+artistic for example) the following happens: - plug-in dialog window opens - i can make changes and see the preview of them in the plug-in window - i can apply the plug-in - then PS displays a dialog saying something like 'applying effect.' - but when that is finished I'm back at my original image without the plug-in effect being applied (nothing shows in history window) I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling Photoshop but the problem remains. I even tried installing a demo of PS CS4 but have the same problem with that version. The error appears on the plugins with a more sophisticated user interface, the ones with the basic UI (like gaussian blur etc) still work ok.
Dec 14, 2008 like to know that ABSoft have just released their 64-bit version of Neat Image Photoshop 64-bit plugin. Jan 10, 2005 I have an old version of Photoshop (3.0) which I've never updated because frankly it still suits my needs.(which are limited). I realized recently that when I switched from Windows 95 to Windows 98 se a few years back I lost some of my filters, like clouds and mezzotint, ripple, lighting and a handful of others. When I go back and fire up the 95 machine they are there.
Also I notice they are in the plugin folder but not showing up on the menu. The best investigation I've turned up is that Photoshop(at least on the 98 machine) says it doesn't recognize the file extention?( 8bf files )although the computer lists this as a recognized file.( 8bf ) Jan 30, 2003 I just got my hands on KPT 7 or 5 i dont remember, but does any one know of a good place to learn how to use the plugs in? Tutorials or anything would be great.
Aug 25, 2013 Have looked pretty much everywhere (except the right place, apparently) for my Nik and OnOne software. Do they have to be installed into PS to work? They show up in LR and work fine. May 22, 2012 H ow do I transfer plugins from CS5 to CS6? Oct 30, 2013 With Photoshop CS6 I found the plugins under filters; do I have to reload in Photoshop CC?
Jun 4, 2012 I just purchased CS6 and noticed that some of the 3rd party filters I had in CS4 have not been migrated over to CS4. The specific plugins I'm concerned about are Noiseware Professional and Alienskins, both of which I am able to access in CS4's filter drop down menu. May 15, 2012 I have just upgraded to CS6 from CS5. How do I move my plugins to CS6? Nov 1, 2013 How do I install third party plug-ins such as NIK or Topaz in CC?
May 31, 2012 None of my existing PS CS5 plugins (onOne, NIK, Perfect, Topaz) show up in my newly installed PS CS6. What is the recommended procedure for getting the plugins to be available under PS CS6? Jun 25, 2012 Where should I / how should I install the Lighting Styles folder and the 8bf, 8bi and 8ba files included in the optional plugins for Photoshop CS6? (Win 32) Jun 20, 2012 I've recently converted from CS5 to CS6. I noticed that CS6 was pointing to CS5 for plugins rather than CS6. I made the mistake of trying to move the plugin folder from CS5 to CS6, which made a bit of a mess. I ended up reinstalling CS6, getting the most current updates, and uninstalling and reinstalling my Nik plugins, and this time they went into the correct folder (CS6 instead of CS5) - no problem, everything worked, except for Dfine which said it was only compatible with CS5. I got the most recent version, which is to work for CS6; I uninstalled the old Dfine; installed the new one.
Everything looks fine. Except that when I attempt to use it in CS6, it crashes completely and shuts everything down. I've uninstalled and reinstalled, and gotten new downloads, etc. But this continues to happen. Everything else seems to work fine. The plug-ins are all together where they are supposed to be. They all show up on the filter menu.
I've exhausted all possibilities on the Nik side, and now I'm wondering if there's something on the Adobe Photoshop side. Sep 23, 2013 My Collection of Nik plug-ins are installed to PS6. I don't know how to get them into PS CC.I also want to know how to set up the link so I can jump from PS to LR and back while editing an image.I am working on Mac desktop. Feb 13, 2012 I'd like to be able to construct some Actions which use third-party Plug-ins - Is it even generally possible.?
The simpler the construction scheme the better. I'm working with CS5. May 16, 2012 Should I just do a plain upgrade to cs6 from 5.1 and let the plugins update, too? Or should I do a clean install?
I have a lot of plugins - NIK, OnOne perfect suite, and portrait pro. This is on a mac Mar 27, 2012 Several of the filters I use regularly don't have 64 bit versions. Aug 2, 2012 i wish to try to run PScs6 without my Nik and Topaz plug ins to see if it improves speed.is there a way to do this short of simply deleting the plug ins? Nov 4, 2012 'm trying to install a color wheel plug-in into Photoshop CS6, however I can't seem to get it to appear in the extensions menu.My biggest problem is that I can't find the folder where the plugin should be placed.I didn't install Photoshop onto my C: drive you see, and when I go into 'C:Program Files/Adobe' all that's there is 'Common Files'.
Now, I tried going onto the drive where it's installed, but when I go I see both an 'Adobe' and 'Photoshop CS6 (64bit)' folder. There's no extra 'Photoshop CS6 (64bit) folder in the Adobe folder, all that's in there is 'Patch files' and there's not Plug-ins folder whatsoever in the Photoshop CS6 folder. I tried creating one, but that obviously didn't work. Not even setting that folder as the additional plug-ins folder worked. I'm not sure what else to try or where else to look.
Jul 8, 2013 I installed plugins for CS6(64bit) in Program Files/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS6 (64 Bit)/Additional Plug-ins and nothing! CS6 doesn't recognize it, namely 'dofpro.8bf' and it's companion file 'convert.exe'. I have verified that the above path is in the preferences of CS6 for additional plugins. I then copied the files to Program Files/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS6 (64 Bit)/Plug-ins! I have looked all over and cannot find any other places to install the files. The instructions for the DOF Pro software said to simply copy the two files into the folder where CS6 has it's plug-ins. I don't know why CS6 is not displaying the DOF Pro filter option in the Filter drop down menu.
I am running Windows 7 Home 64bit and it is fully up to date. Sep 28, 2013 I just subscribed to Creative Cloud, I would like to use my NIK plugins in PSD CS6.
How do I move them over or can I make them work in both versions. Aug 15, 2006 I have Photoshop 7.0 and I want Adobe Raw, I down loaded the Camera Raw 3.3 plugin but it doesn't seem to open my Dimage7 Raw files, what gives?
Jun 1, 2005 i just got cs2, and would like to simply move my plugins to it, rather than d/l them all over again. Feb 20, 2005 if there are any 3d toolsets available for photoshop? Basically something that would allow me to easily create spheres, cubes and other 3D objects.
Hopefully being able to be complety texturized and lit by rendering different lighting effects. I find a lot of 3D software confusing to use and hard to learn. I'd just like to be able to do simple stuff like this for graphics work. May 15, 2009 I have CS2 and it's worked perfectly until I installed Nik's Dfine and Viveza.
I have done a reinstall of PS and that didn't help. I've also moved the Nik folder to a different location outside the plugins folder.and I've deleted the selection tool folder from within the Nik folder itself. None of this seems to make any difference. After about 8 reboots of the computer, PS 'may' work with the Nik plugins. And if it does, it will work with them fine on any image I open. But if I close PS the nightmare starts again!
Aug 13, 2007 Ive tried to add some basic plug ins - knoll, eye candy 4000 etc - dropped them in the plug ins folder per usual, but whenever I fire up photoshop I get the error message: 'One or more plug-ins are currently not available on your system. For details see Help System Info.'
When I go to system info, Photoshop crashes? I tried putting the plugins in a different folder and then directing photoshop to that folder (via the prefences menu) but got the same error messages. Anyone know any sort of solution? I'm running CS3 on a mac with plenty of ram and space. Outside of this error, photoshop runs just fine. Feb 2, 2008 I'm running Photoshop CS3.
I have no problem with certain plugins like NIK and Alien, but others like Raw Paw and AutoFX just shut down PS.
If you are a user of one of the popular Nik Collection photo editing plugins, you have probably experienced errors in using the software recently. After Photoshop’s latest update, several users have reported that using the plugins will now force Photoshop to close when the plugin attempts to save its changes. This not only limits your use of Nik’s software, but it also will also cause you to lose all unsaved changes to your image prior to using the plugin. Luckily, there is a very simple workaround. It has been an up and down year for Nik Collection.
After Google announced that they had for the software, they were later. This was a relief for several photographers who have integrated Nik’s plugins, such as Color Efex Pro, into their post-processing workflow. However, has no known plans to make any changes to the current version of the software until their release of the newest edition sometime next year. This leaves users with the problem of the plugins not being compatible with the updated version of Photoshop, with no hope for a fix to resolve the issue. A simple setting adjustment though will allow you to work around the problem.
The Fix First, you will want to open a photo in Photoshop, and from there open the photo using your Nik software of choice. When the photo opens in Nik, you will see a settings box in the bottom left corner of the screen. Open the settings option and navigate to the tab labeled “After Clicking OK.” In this tab, you will want to change the setting from “Apply the filtered effect to a separate layer” to “Apply the filtered effect to the current layer.” Save the changes and it should apply to all further uses of the Nik software.
This setting is the root of the error. Photoshop will often crash when Nik Collection tries to create a new layer in the software.
This workaround allows you to save the changes to the layer you were currently working on, rather than create a new layer. The only addition I will add is that you should create a copy of the layer in Photoshop before you open in Nik, in case any further adjustments such as masking are required after the effects are applied. Nik Collection is an excellent software despite its recent issues. Hopefully, with DxO’s recent acquisition, further versions of the software will be developed that allow its users to continue to use their plugins without needing to find workarounds such as this. I have High Sierra and even switching to “Apply the filtered effect to the current layer.” I am still having crashing issues. Can't wait for DXO to provide some sort of fix for this issue. I tried to get my computer back to Sierra 4 times already.
NIK doesnt crash every time I use it thank God. But it is sporadic. If I click through the filters too fast it will crash on me every time, and sometimes it crashes as it feels like it.
My workaround is saving whatever I have done before I use NIK in case it crashes I can just try to use it again with my saved file. Thank you for the article. Though it was great. Can't wait to get a legit fix. Unfortunately this doesn't resolve my issues when working with Nik Color Efex Pro on a Smart Object. I do this in order to apply the effect in a non destructive way, and to allow masking the effect only into specific areas of the image. If I turn the effect off with the eye icon (at the left of the item nested beneath the Smart Object layer) then turn it back on it crashes Photoshop every time also discarding all other changes since I last saved.
Hopefully some resolution comes when DXO puts out the new release this year although that doesn't help right now. I have been using the original NIK plugins for several years, and haven't had a single issue with PS6 5 and 6, and PS Elements running under Mac OSX 10.13. Then I decided to buy the DXO update version of NIK, and now I can only use PhotoEfex because everything else crashes PSE 2018, and also CS6 (please notice that I don't use the online CC Adobe software, just a standalone version of CS6 and PSE in two different Macs). Anyway, the reason why the 'Easy Fix' talked above cannot work for me is because the soonest I do one of the following, CS6 and PSE crash: a. If I 'click' the mouse's pointer on NIK's Settings b. If I choose any of the NIK plugins shown in CS6's Filters folder So now I may not have any options but to remove the DXO NIK plugins and replace them with the older NIK Software. Edited Sept.
18, 2018 I finally got the DXO Nik Software package to work along CS6 on one of my Macs. Please notice that I don't use the Adobe CC software online, but a standalone CS6 application on an iMac. However, I do use the 2018 CC Bridge and Photo Downloader. What I did to solve the problem was to search for and delete all the Nik folders, files, etc., (every one of them until nothing relating to the Nik software was left in the computer). But I didn't delete any of the photos that had been edited with the Nik software. I ran the Nik deinstaller app to remove anything else that was left behind, but this app set a flag indicating that the Nik software had been completely removed.
Then I reinstalled the Nik software with the Nik installer. Launched CS6 and bridge (CC ), and opened a photo. At this point the Nik Tool Selector appeared on the screen.
I accessed the settings at the bottom of the Nik selector (?) and changed the settings so that the plugins don't use the GPU, and that the new layer is applied to the current photo. I did the same with every one of the plugins shown on the Nik selector.
I also check-marked not to have this selector launching every time that I use CS6, but only because I prefer to access the Nik plugins on the Filters folder. Now I launched everyone of the Nik plugins shown in the CS6 Filters folder, and made sure that the settings were the same (not use of the GPU, and applying the layer to the current photo) But I could not solve the crashing problem with PSE 2018 my 2011 13' MacBook Pro.
Maybe some Nik setting or file is left behind somewhere, or maybe the following? The Nik plugins aren't automatically installed in the PSE Filters folder. Maybe they are placed in a the Plugins folder, but not made active during the installation process. In this case one has to 'Choose' the Nik plugins in the PSE Plugins screen using the Preferences. Once that is done, PSE will launch the plugins and the Nik selector. However, PSE crashes immediately after I 'click' on the Settings option at the bottom of the Nik selector. The same happens when I try to use any of the plugins in the Plugins folder.
It is very possible that having PSE launch the plugins to make them active conflicts with the installation process, but I don't really know. Upon DXO request, I emailed the diagnostics file to their technicians about a month or more ago, but I haven't received an answer.
The diagnostics file contains the details of what causes PSE to crash.
